Ioan Mihai Miron est récompensé pour sa contribution majeure à la découverte du retournement de l'aimantation induite par les couples de spin-orbite. Cette possibilité ouvre un potentiel significatif sur la réduction de consommation énergétique et la fiabilité des MRAM (Magnetic Random Access Memory), le seul type de mémoire non volatile compatible avec l'évolution en vitesse des derniers processeurs. Cette nouvelle mémoire devrait à terme se substituer aux mémoires de type SRAM (Static Random Access Memory), au plus près des processeurs.

12-month postdoc position opening at SYMMES on "Nanostructure of ionomers developed for hydrogen fuel cells investigated by scattering techniques"
A 12 months post-doctoral position is offered in the framework of the international ANR project NSPEM, between CEA, LEPMI and University of Simon Fraser Vancouver (Canada), dedicated to the development and characterization of fuel cells based on block copolymer electrolytes. This project aims at providing in-depth structural characterization of the electrolyte used both as proton-conducting membrane and ionomer in the catalytic layers by means of lab thermal/mechanical characterizations coupled to structural investigation by means of X-rays and neutron scattering experiments.

Le CEA développe sa propre plate-forme originale basée sur la technologie "silicium-sur-isolant" (SOI). L'information quantique est stockée dans le spin des porteurs piégés dans des boîtes quantiques gravées dans un fin film de silicium et contrôlées par des grilles métalliques.

Alcohol: New Research published! (Open Access)
An approach for simulating phase diagrams of binary mixtures is presented, where a bulk liquid and its corresponding vapour phase are simulated by means of molecular dynamics using explicit polarisation. Time-averaged density profiles for the pure compounds and mixtures at different mole fractions provide information about the spatial distribution in the bulk liquid and the amount of evaporated species in the adjacent vapour phase. The activities in the liquid phase are calculated from the mean vapour phase densities at a given composition, providing a good qualitative agreement compared to experimental data and the precision of the method follows a previously developed Poisson model of evaporation.

In the framework of our ERC REE-CYCLE Project, a microfluidic system combined with substrate integrated hollow waveguide (iHWG) vapor phase infrared spectroscopy has been developed for evaluating the chemical activity of volatile compounds dissolved in complex fluids. Chemical activity is an important yet rarely exploited parameter in process analysis and control. Access to chemical activity parameters enables systematic studies on phase diagrams of complex fluids, the detection of aggregation processes, etc. The instrumental approach developed herein uniquely enables controlled evaporation/permeation from a sample solution into a hollow waveguide structure and the analysis of the partial pressures of volatile constituents.

"The basics of 2D materials" - A 25 h series of courses in Grenoble
A 25 h series of courses devoted to the basics of 2D materials and research on these materials in Grenoble will be held from the 4th to the 8th of June, 2018.  The courses will be given by local actors. They are primarily intended for undergraduate students and young researchers, and are also open to other local staff with interest in this actively developing field. Four main topics will be covered: basic properties, materials science, analytical techniques and physical properties. Registration is free but compulsory, and must be completed before the 25th of May, 2018. Meals will be at the participants' expense, except for a lunch buffet offered the last day.

Offre de post-doc de 2 ans : Composites nano-silicium/graphène pour batteries lithium-ion à haute densité d’énergie
Le sujet s’inscrit dans un projet européen H2020 inclus dans le Flagship Graphene, portant sur les applications du graphène dans le stockage de l’énergie. Pour les batteries lithium-ion, le graphène est associé en composite avec du silicium nano-structuré pour augmenter la capacité énergétique. Le graphène enrobe le silicium, réduisant sa réactivité avec l’électrolyte et la formation de la couche de passivation (SEI), et maintient une conductivité électrique élevée dans l’électrode.
