Magnetic excitations in laterally confined nanostructures studied by Brillouin light scattering

In this seminar, the research activity of the Magnetism Group of the University of Perugia will be reviewed. Application of micro-focused and conventional Brillouin light scattering technique to study the dynamical properties (magnetic normal modes) of laterally confined nanometric structures and magnonic crystals, made of dipolarly coupled nanostructures, are presented.
Particular emphasis will be placed on the possible interconnection between the excitation of spin waves by Spin-Tranfer Torque effect and their propagation in magnonic crystals.
