Le grand prix Léon Brillouin 2016 de la Société Française d’Optique est attribué à Jean-Michel GERARD

The Léon Brillouin Great Prize has been founded by the French Optical Society, with the support of the iXCore Research Foundation, to honor the memory of the great physicist Léon Brillouin, whose discoveries have deeply influenced the modern development of Optics. This prize, which is awarded once every two years, rewards for his entire carrier an internationally renowned scientist in the field of Optics, who has performed a large part of his carrier in France. In 2016, the SFO has chosen to distinguish the pioneering work carried out by Jean- Michel GERARD in the fields of semiconductor nanostructures and quantum nanophotonics firstly within the CNET laboratories in Bagneux and, since 2001, within INAC in Grenoble.
