La conférence “PVTC 2014: Thin Film and Advanced Silicon Solutions” aura lieu à Aix-en-Provence du 21 au 23 mai 2014. Cette conférence est l’occasion de rassembler les partenaires académiques et les industriels actifs dans les différentes filières couches minces du solaire photovoltaïque. Plusieurs orateurs de renom du domaine présenteront des conférences « keynote » à cette occasion. La date limite de soumission des résumés est le 14 janvier 2014. Superconductor-Insulator Transition Workshop - February 2014
We are organizing a workshop on strongly disordered superconductors and the superconductor-insulator transition. This field has had steady progress over the last years, where advances in experiment and theory go hand in hand, and the demand for a better understanding is also fed from an application point of view. In this workshop we would like to get together the leading experts in this field, both experimentalists and theorists, to bring together new insights and define future directions. The workshop will take place in Villard de Lans, near Grenoble (France), from Sunday evening February 9th to Friday morning February 14th. Post-Doctoral Fellow (m/f) for the upgrade of the In Situ Nanostructures instrument
The INS (In situ Nanostructure on Surfaces) instrument of the BM32 beamline at the ESRF is devoted to in situ studies of the structure and morphology of semiconductor, metal and oxide nanostructures, surfaces and interfaces during processes. It uses hard x-rays to follow fundamental aspects of epitaxial growth employing grazing incidence small angle x-ray scattering and grazing incidence diffraction in situ. Its highly versatile growth chamber can be equipped with several solid source evaporators for molecular beam epitaxy (MBE), as well as with gas sources for UHV Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD) catalytic growth of nanowires.

Laetitia Ancel, doctorante au SCIB/RICC, a reçu le 1er prix poster au congrès ICBIC16 dans la session « metals in medicine »
Laetitia Ancel a présenté ses travaux de thèses à la conférence internationale de chimie biologique inorganique (ICBIC16) en juillet 2013 à Grenoble qui a accueillie plus de 700 participants du monde entier. Sa communication intitulée « DNA recognition by lanthanide- peptide complexes » a reçu le premier prix poster dans la session « metals in medicine ». Félicitations à cette future docteure qui soutiendra sa thèse en novembre 2013.

Research project: Spin pumping and spin-orbit effects in SiGe-based heterostructures contact: matthieu.jamet@cea.fr The Nanostructures and Magnetism laboratory has recently developed a strong research activity in semiconductor spintronics and more particularly in group IV semiconductors like silicon and germanium. In this context, this post-doc position will be dedicated to the creation of a sizeable electron spin population into Si and Ge by spin pumping and the detection of this spin accumulation by spin-orbit based effects. Graphene is currently receiving considerable interest as it has lead to important scientific achievements and because it is promising for applications in several fields such as RF electronics, spintronics or chemical sensing. Despite considerable improvements, it is still not clear what will be the best method to produce graphene and which is the most appropriate substrate. The choice of the method will certainly depend on the application. In this context the advantages of graphene grown on silicon carbide are the large surfaces which can be covered and the high mobility that can be achieved. The main draw back of this technique is that no back-gating is readily possible contrary to graphene transfered on SiO2.

CEA is launching in 2013 a transversal project from fundamental research to technology entitled “3D bio-inspired Nano-scale Assembly (3DNA)”. This project aims at creating a synergy between researchers and technologists in order to develop a specific toolbox thanks to the auto-assembly properties of DNA and proteins. For the first year, several postdoctoral positions are opened in the research fields related to modified DNA synthesis and functionalization, DNA & proteins architectures preparation (DNA origami, protein crystallization,...), advanced spectroscopy & lithography with these bio-bricks and 2D/3D interconnections.

Introductory Course on MRAM and STTRAM
This introductory course aims at helping students, researchers and engineers having little or no background in magnetism to better understand the physics and working principles of this new class of magnetic memories called MRAMs (Magnetic Random Access Memories) based on magnetic tunnel junctions. These MRAM or STTRAM (Spin-Transfer-Torque RAM) memories are attracting an increasing interest in microelectronics industry. In a recent ITRS (International Roadmap on Semiconductors) report, they have been identified with Redox RAM as one of the two most promising technologies of emerging non-volatile memories allowing scalability to and beyond the 16nm technology node. The courses will be organized during two and a half days.
