Recent experiments reveal intriguing properties for systems that undergo the superconductor-insulator transition. In particular, hints for unusual behavior in the insulating state terminating superconductivity at high magnetic fields have led some to believe that the insulating state is a new state of matter named a superinsulator. We will review the experimental findings and discuss their possible ramifications.
